Sabre reports increase in revenue, signs Visa partnership

Sabre has reported a 9.3 percent increase in revenue, to $984 million, for the three months to June 30th.

The Texas-based company’s Travel Network distribution arm saw year-on-year booking volumes grow by 7.6 percent to 122,864, while revenues up 13.2 percent to $720 million.
At the same time, the travel technology giant’s airline solutions division saw revenues decrease by 2.4 percent.
Sean Menke, Sabre chief executive, said: “Over the past 18 months, we’ve significantly strengthened our position as a trusted and innovative technology partner while reinforcing our commitment to leading in next-generation technology across retailing, distribution and fulfillment across all channels.

“The macro global travel environment was supportive, and as a leader at the center of the business of travel, we benefitted.
“We saw strong share gain at Travel Network and wrapped up large implementations including SabreSonic at LATAM and the SynXis central reservation System at Wyndham, the world’s largest hotelier.”
Overall adjusted operating income decreased marginally by 0.3 percent to $172 million for the quarter, while adjusted earnings per share grew 5.7 percent to $0.37.
Adjusted gross profit was up 1.4 percent to $374 million.
Visa
Also announced earlier, Visa has partnered with Sabre that will see the travel technology firm use the payment specialist’s CyberSource payment management platform to bring an integrated reservation and fraud management solution to airlines, hotels, travel agencies and other organizations.
With CyberSource, Sabre says it will be able to provide a full suite of payment acceptance, fraud management, and authentication services to its customers.
Fernando Souza, vice president of global merchant travel solutions at Visa, said: “As the traveler journey becomes increasingly more digital, a fast, secure payment experience across channels and enabled on multiple devices is vital for success.
“Today, 26 of the world’s top 50 airlines globally already rely on Cybersource solutions for payment management and we look forward to working with Sabre to expand digital payment acceptance and more effectively protect their travel organizations worldwide.”
One solution available through Cybersource is Decision Manager, which helps travel companies identify fraud more accurately and with less manual intervention.
Users can also utilize payment acceptance features, one of which connects approximately 120 acquirers in more than 190 countries and in over 50 currencies.
They will also be able to deploy new and emerging digital payments options for their customers, including Visa Checkout.
